The problem it solves

Knowing the Maths
isn't always enough.

GCSE Maths isn't only about remembering methods. Students also need to recognise what a question is asking, apply the right approach, work accurately and communicate enough working to earn the available marks.

Regular exam-question practice helps expose and improve these areas.

GCSE MATHEMATICS · EXAM QUESTION[5 marks]
4

The diagram shows a logo made from three circles.

O
  • 4 cminner radius
  • 3 cmshaded band
  • 3 cmouter band

Each circle has centre O.

Daisy says that exactly one third of the logo is shaded.

Is Daisy correct? You must show all your working.

WHAT WE WORK ON, IN CLASS

  • 01Radii are 4, 7 and 10 — not 4, 3 and 3. Misreading this loses every mark.
  • 02The shaded area is a difference of two circles, so subtraction comes before comparison.
  • 03π cancels — noticing that saves time and avoids rounding errors.
  • 04"Is Daisy correct?" needs a stated conclusion — 33/100, so no. Working alone does not score.
  1. 01

    Knowledge Gaps

Questions reveal topics and skills that still need strengthening.

  2. 02

    Exam Technique

Students learn how to structure working and show the steps needed for marks.

  3. 03

    Avoidable Errors

Misreading, calculation slips and incomplete working can cost marks unnecessarily.

  4. 04

    Method Selection

Students practise recognising which approach a question actually requires.

  5. 05

    Timing & Exam Management

Students become more familiar with moving through a paper efficiently and confidently.

Every question becomes an opportunity to strengthen knowledge, technique and exam confidence.

Taught separately

Foundation and Higher

Two separate classes, never a blended one — so the questions, the pace and the exam skills match the paper your child is actually sitting.

Every week

Practice the questions that actually appear in GCSE Maths

90 minutes of focused exam-question practice, with methods explained, mistakes corrected and exam technique developed as we go.

01

Attempt

Students work through selected GCSE exam questions.

Questions can cover a mixture of topics, methods and question styles appropriate to Foundation or Higher.

02

Break it down

We work through the questions together, step by step.

Students see how to identify what the question is asking, choose an appropriate method and structure their working clearly.

03

Fix the mistakes

Common errors and misconceptions are addressed as they appear.

If a question exposes a gap in knowledge, we stop and teach what is needed before moving on.

04

Build exam skill

We focus on the habits that turn knowledge into marks.

Method selection, accuracy, showing working, multi-step questions, checking answers and using exam time effectively.

Who it is for

Built for every GCSE
Maths student

Whether your child is working towards a Grade 4 or aiming for a Grade 9, Exam Mastery helps them practise the questions they will actually face, identify gaps, avoid preventable mistakes and become more confident turning their knowledge into marks.

01

Build confidence and a stronger grade

Regular exam-question practice helps students feel more prepared, less intimidated by papers and more confident in what they can achieve.

02

Stop losing avoidable marks

Misreading a question, incomplete working, poor checking or the wrong method cost valuable marks — and are often the quickest areas to improve.

03

Identify and fill gaps

Exam questions quickly expose topics or skills that are not fully secure, allowing gaps to be addressed as they appear.

04

Turn knowledge into marks

Knowing a topic is not always enough. Students practise applying their knowledge in the way GCSE questions actually demand.

05

Start unfamiliar questions

We break down challenging questions and show students how to recognise what is being asked and choose an appropriate approach.

06

Sharpen accuracy and technique

Stronger habits around working clearly, checking answers, selecting methods and handling multi-step questions.

07

Stay consistent all year

Weekly practice builds steadily, rather than relying on last-minute revision before mocks or final exams.

Not just for students who are struggling — for any student who wants to protect the marks they should be getting. Join Exam Mastery →
